what makes a great graphic t?

What exactly are people looking for when they buy a graphic t ? Is it witty comments or references? Or is it the actual design itself ?

  2. I think nowadays it is both. There are some that will buy a shirt just because of what it says or refers to, regardless of what the design is, and then there are some that will buy a shirt only based on what the design is, and they don't care what it says or stands for. Of course there are also those who look for both together, good content with a good design. I guess it depends on the buyer's age, interests, and a number of other factors.

For me personally if I'm buying a graphic t-shirt, I prefer something that has good content and a good design. As I mentioned I'm a fan of the band Dance Gavin Dance, but I'm not particularly a fan of the artwork in the first t-shirt, so I personally wouldn't buy it.
